Boston and the Bruins

Being a Canadian, I love hockey.  Quite often, after a long commute home on the dog sled, I recline on some polar bear skin in my igloo and watch the hockey game on the old plasma TV.  Alright, so not all of that is true, and some stereo types were thrown in for good fun, but hockey remains a passion.  Not playing so much anymore, but watching.  And although I remain a hardcore Toronto Maple Leaf fan, through good times and bad, my wife has always been a Boston Bruin fan.  I know what you’re thinking, how does that marriage work?

Anyway, when the Bruins made it to the Stanley Cup finals vs the Vancouver Canucks, being the middle of June, we couldn’t stand idly by and watch from the comfort of our own igloo, it was already starting to melt.  So we decided to make the trek down to Boston to watch game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

I love the city of Boson.  This is only the second time being there, but it’s such a beautiful city.  And I’m not really much of an architecture photographer, but the old town and the new…it’s just a beautiful city.

Love how three buildings are fused together over time.

The city was alive with the buzz of hockey.  Support for the bruins was everywhere, from fire trucks to the Paul Revere statue along the freedom trail.

Inside the TD Garden arena, the atmosphere was electric and other times respectful (like for the playing of the national anthems).

Some fans went a little overboard.  But I suppose after a 41 year drought of drinking from Lord Stanley’s mug, getting more than a sniff will do that to you.  As a Leaf fan, I wouldn’t know.

The bruins won the game and a couple days later the Stanley cup.

My wife was happy.  And you know what they say, happy wife, happy life.  Now back to the igloo we go!
