Paint Droplets

A friend of ours gave us a Crayola Sidewalk Paint Airbrush and my daughter and I finally got a change to use it. The way it works is you mix water and some provided paint in the chamber of the air brush. You pump it up and then pull the trigger and out comes a fine misted paint that you can paint on the pavement. When it dries, it looks just like chalk, and washes off just as easily too. The package comes with two stencils in the shape of a star, a crescent moon, and a couple others.

The first stencil we used was a yellow one with a crescent moon and a star. When we pulled the trigger on the airbrush, the paint that hit the stencil beaded up in beautiful patterns and because the thickness of the paint, the droplets were large piles of paint. It reminded me of the way droplets of mercury behave.

So for the next half hour, my daughter waited patiently (don’t worry she’s used to this) while I took pictures of the beautiful blue paint on the bright yellow stencil. Who knew that a product from Crayola could help create some great photographs?
